Table of Contents
You should put a Table of Contents at the start of your coursework, showing
which pages the various sections of the coursework are on:

Before you can make a Table of Contents you must go through your entire
document and assign heading styles to the headings that you want to appear in
the table of contents. This is done as follows:
- Choose the first section of your coursework and click on its heading:

- On the Word toolbars, there is one section that tells you the style
of whatever you have clicked on. This will probably say normal. If
it does, change it to say Heading 1:

- Repeat this for every section heading that you want to appear in your
Table of Contents.
Now you are ready to put the table of contents into your coursework:
- Go to the start of your document, and click where you want the table of
contents to appear.
- Click on Insert, then Index and Tables...
- This will display a dialog box where you should click on the Index and
Tables tab:

- Click on OK and your Table of Contents will appear in your
document.
Tip: If you add a new heading later, or want to remove one you will need to
update the table of contents to reflect the changes you have made in your
document. To do this:
- Right-Click on the Table of Contents.
- Select Update Field.
