Feeding

You can feed your ferrets lots of different foods when you are desperate, but I find the best thing to feed them is proper ferret food. You can buy the food from many different pet shops, you can get it from some veterinaries or many animal related shops.

You can decide when to feed your ferrets but I've found that the best time to feed them is just when you can see that their food bowl is empty.

The larger your food bowl is the less regularly you will need a refill, but the standard food bowl will need to be filled about once every three days (this all depends on how big your ferret is of course!).

When your ferret has been particularly good, (not biting, not fussing you decide) you can give them treats like a small piece of chocolate or a lick of ice-cream, things that are sweet and you wouldn't usually feed them.

You can buy a treat called 'ferretive' which ferrets usually like a lot. This can also help the ferret to learn to trust you more.
